lost 79 pounds

Last year I won the USPA New Mexico powerlifting state championships as a super heavy weight. I really wanted to compete the in the 2021 USPA powerlifting national championships. I wasn't anywhere near strong enough to qualify as a super heavy weight. So I had two choices: drop 2 weight classes or use illegal performance enhancement drugs. I really didn't want to start using PED's. That's a never ending rabbit hole I've seen to many people get lost in. So I've been working hard at losing weight. I've dropped 2 entire weight classes, from 346lbs to 267lbs. I'm now comfortably in the 275lb weight class. I started a maintenance diet this week. The next step is to compete in a powerlifting meet and make the minimum total to qualify. It's 600k, or 1320lbs. My first attempt at qualifying is the New Mexico powerlifting state championships in Farmington NM on Jan 9th. If by chance I fail at qualifying in Farmington I have another meet paid for in Midlothian Texas in April. That gives me a little over 3 months to get as much strength back as possible. While losing 80lbs I did in fact lose a lot of strength.

Next year I hope to compete in the 242lb weight class. I'm just leaving this here tidbit of information so I can easily find it next year: The book Renaissance paradisation diet 2.0 suggests I lose .08 percent of my bodyweight per week. Or 2.2lbs per week if a start at 275.

Avatar Nutrition will need me to drop to 236lbs to maintain at our below 240.

2021 season

Some of the biggest meets of the year will be within driving distance of Albuquerque this year. So the family and I will be doing a bunch of traveling for powerlifting meets in 2021.

January 9th- New Mexico tested state championships.

April 24th- a tested meet in Midlothian Texas in case I don't get the minimum qualifying totals necessary in January.

June 16th- tested national championships San Antonio Texas

July 16th- USPA national championships Renaissance Palm Springs California

November 7th- IPL world championships Costa Mesa California

The minimum for tested Nationals in the 275k 45-49 is a class 2. That's 530 kilos, 1166 lb.

The minimum for the USPA national championships in the 275 weight class, 45-49  and also for the IPL world championships is a class one total. 600k or 1320 lb.
